Distinguished and Famous people from Casey
🤝 Antonia Arfaras
Antonia Arfaras was named a joint Casey Citizen of the Year in 2025 after more than thirty years of volunteering in the municipality. Her work included stroke awareness and advocacy, recognised by the National Stroke Foundation's Volunteer of the Year award in 2024. She also contributed through the Friends of Wilson Botanic Park. These activities connect support for people facing a serious health challenge with care for a shared public garden. The council's recognition records a sustained local contribution across quite different parts of community life.
🤝 Anthony Hanna
Anthony Hanna shared Casey's Citizen of the Year honour in 2025. His volunteering included work with Vinnies at three locations, together with Neighbourhood Watch Casey, Merinda Park Learning Centre and Jen Community Housing. These associations connect assistance to people in need with neighbourhood safety, education and housing. The council's recognition records a contribution spread across several organisations, where regular volunteer effort can make the difference between a service being available and a person having to manage without it.
