Old Cheese Factory

Berwick’s Old Cheese Factory brings together the 1860s Springfield Homestead, Cheese Factory and Kitchen Wash House, offering a tangible way to encounter the area’s early colonial-era dairying history. Its grounds also contain the Hayshed art space, where rotating exhibitions feature local Casey artists, alongside art-making workshops. Gardens, picnic facilities and a playground add contemporary community uses without losing sight of the site’s historic buildings and working-life story.

Gate 6 Gallery + Studio

Operated by the South Eastern Contemporary Art Network, Gate 6 combines a gallery and studio at Akoonah Park in Berwick. The two areas can accommodate larger exhibitions, while members use the space for group shows, studio work and meetings. Public member exhibitions provide a window into contemporary art made across varied media, and artists can run workshops from the venue, linking exhibition-making with hands-on participation.

Berwick Artists Society

Formed in 1992, Berwick Artists Society brings together visual artists at emerging, professional and hobby levels. Its programme includes exhibitions at the Old Cheese Factory, painting demonstrations and workshops, with visiting professional artists contributing regular demonstrations. Fisherman’s Cottage Museum

At Tooradin on Casey’s Western Port shoreline, Fisherman’s Cottage Museum preserves one of the few surviving fishermen’s houses once found around Sawtell’s Inlet. A display shed includes fishing and farming equipment dating back to the 1870s, bringing coastal work and local agriculture into view through objects rather than abstract dates. Managed by the Cranbourne Shire Historical Society, it is a small but distinctive place to explore Tooradin’s working-life history.

Berwick-Pakenham Historical Society Museum

Just beyond Casey in neighbouring Pakenham, this museum interprets the connected history of the former Shire of Berwick. Its collection includes municipal and former-business material, early-settler personal items, wartime objects, agricultural machinery and tools, along with books, photographs and manuscripts. Housed in the former Shire of Berwick offices, it adds regional context to Casey’s Berwick-area history. The museum opens on Sundays outside January and at other times by appointment.
